Understanding stomach, digestive & liver symptoms
Digestive symptoms may include reflux, abdominal discomfort, bowel habit changes or suspected liver conditions. A clinician can advise whether investigation or referral is necessary; procedures are not required for every symptom.
Questions to ask at an appointment
- How long have the symptoms been present and what worsens them?
- Should I bring previous liver tests, ultrasound reports or prescriptions?
- If investigation is advised, where is it offered and what are the arrangements?
When to seek urgent medical attention: Vomiting blood, passing black stools, severe sudden abdominal pain or major dehydration warrants urgent medical assessment.
Having a gastroenterology listing does not confirm endoscopy or other procedures are available at a particular clinic. Information is for healthcare navigation, not diagnosis or treatment recommendations.
